Brendan Herron
Strategic Advisor
Brendan Herron is a strategic advisor at HASI (NYSE: HASI), a leading investor in climate solutions. He has been focused on climate change solutions for almost two decades. He developed the concept for Hannon Armstrong Sustainable Infrastructure Capital, Inc. which has invested over $12 billion in climate solutions including renewable energy, energy efficiency and other sustainable infrastructure. He led HASI’s IPO and served in senior executive roles including as HASI’s first chief financial officer from 2013 to 2019. Brendan presently provides strategic and financial advice to various organizations regarding climate solutions, including HASI. His expertise includes structuring climate investments, sustainable infrastructure markets, carbon accounting, carbon credits, resiliency, government policy and addressing environmental justice.
He is the lead independent director and the audit committee chairman of Shimmick Corporation (Nasdaq: SHIM), a leading water infrastructure company. He also serves on the boards of various private and nonprofit organizations including as a board observer for REsurety, Inc., the Advisory Board of the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, and the Board of Directors of Fair Chance (Washington, DC) a Washington DC based nonprofit, dedicated to strengthening local nonprofits who serve children and their families. He has been appointed to the board of Climate United Fund, a nonprofit which has applied for funding from the $14 billion federal National Clean Investment Fund and to the Climate Advisor Council of the State of Maryland Office of Comptroller and formerly served on the U.S. Commerce Secretary’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee.
He is directorship certified by the National Association of Corporate Directors, a professional credential supporting his qualifications and experience as a corporate board director. Mr. Herron received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and computer science from Loyola University Maryland and a Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola University Maryland and has passed the CPA and CMA examinations.
